When you make your own Archipelago candles for Christmas you will need a few things. The cheapest way to make them is to gather around the remnants from old candles that you are finished with. If you don’t have old candles then you will need to buy the wax flakes. You will need other various items like a boiling pan, a measuring cup, dye, shot glasses, and wicks. You might want to buy red and green dyes so they match your artificial Christmas trees.
When you begin making your candles you will add all of the wax into the measuring cup. Discolored wax is best when you are going to dye the candles. Place the measuring cup in a pot of boiling water and let the wax melt. When the wax is completely melted, you will then add the wax dye to make the green and red candles. You will need to cut the wicks so they are perfect length to fit the shot glasses. Measure them properly so the wick will be about half an inch above the glass.
Once you have dyed the wax to the color of your liking you will then pour the wax in the shot glasses about ½ inch from the top of the glass. Fill each shot glass. If you want to make multi colored candles you will have several different measuring cups full of different colors. You will pour the wax into a shot glass half way. Let that sit for a while until it becomes semi-set. Then you will pour the second color on top of the shot glass. You might want red and green candles to go with your lighted palm trees.
There are many things to think about when you make your own Archipelago candles. If you want to recycle candles you should recycle them into the same type. Tapers should be recycled into tapers as pillars should be recycled into pillars. Wax crayon candles are the best way to dye candles. This is the best method because you can avoid burning if too much is used. Another thing to consider is when you place the wick in the shot glass when you are pouring the wax it is easier to wrap the wick around a toothpick. This will allow the wick to be centered in the candle.
Making Christmas candles is fun. It is very simple to make candles at home for the holidays and they will match your artificial Christmas trees too. All you need to do is melt the wax, put in the dye and pour it into the glasses. Christmas is an excellent time to light candles. Archipelago candles are excellent candles to burn.
